Kannawa is a rope with a metal ring attached to it.
Nawa (ropes) were used by Samurai and Edo period police to restrain their opponent because handcuffs had yet to be invented. The rope was sometimes fitted with various attachments to aid the restraint.
The ropes are made from a natural fiber, the white is a natural colour while the other 3 are dyed.
